Hawequas has launced an exciting volunteer programme in 2006.

Aiming to attract scouting volunteers from both South Africa and abroad, the programme offers positions for both school-leavers and volunteers with experience and expertise in specialised fields.

These SPECIALISED FIELDS include, but are not limited to the following:
- Youth camp programme leaders: To organise youth camps and present environmental education youth camp programmes.
- Adventure activity leaders: To lead outdoor adventure activities.
- Camp catering: Manage catering for 3-day environmental education camps and other groups visiting Hawequas.
- Conservation: Implement the conservation management plan and to present conservation sessions for environmental education youth camp programmes.
- Horticulture: Develop and maintain an indigenous plant nursery and develop the property through indigenous landscaping.
- Permaculture: Develop and maintain food gardens and present food garden sessions for environmental education youth camp programmes.
- Construction: Develop and maintain infrastructure on the farm with a focus on sustainable/alternative construction methods using on-site resources.
- Development projects: Participate in social and environmental development projects in the broader Wellington community.
