The Korea Scout Association has invited the South African Scout
Association to participate in the 12th Korea Jamboree which is to
take place during 2008.
Date: 7-12 August 2008
Participants are requested to arrive on 7 August and leave the Jamboree
site on 12 August 2008.
Venue: World Jamboree site in Mt. Sorak, Gangwon-do
(4 hours by bus from Incheon Int'l Airport)
Located in the mid-eastern part of the Korean peninsula and flanked
by the sea and mountains. Gangwon-do is full of natural attractions.
Fee: US$ 200
The fee covers food rations, tentage, activities, Jamboree souvenirs,
insurance, and inland transportation between airport and Jamboree
site.
Participants: 12,000 Scouts and leaders from all over the
country with overseas participants
Eligibility: Young people (Boys and Girls) aged 12-17 and
adult leaders
Climate: Generally good (22 to 31 degrees) with occasional
rain
Home Hospitality: Home Hospitality for a maximum of 3 days
before or after the Jamboree will be arranged for overseas participants
who are willing to have more experiences in Korea.

Please note that while the lower age set by the jamboree organisers
is 12 years old, the South African Scout Association's minimum age
for travelling abroad is 14.5 years. The fee stipulated above is
only the jamboree fee. Travel, uniforms and pocket money must be
added.
Please circulate this information amongst our members. If anybody
is interested they must please contact the International Commissioner,
Brian February, directly. We will consider sending at least one
patrol of 9 plus one adult leader. SASA will not contribute anything
towards the costs. All costs to be carried by the individuals. As
soon as we have an indication from interested parties we will make
enquiries regarding airfares etc.
The deadline for applications is 30 November 2007.
